Hi there Everyone. I’m soo excited. Recently the people at Redbook Magazine got in touch with me because they liked my post titled The Right height of Table Lamp for your End Table, and asked if it could be part of a piece they were writing for their online presence Redbookmag.com. The title of the Redbookmag article is 9 Decorating Hacks From Top Design Gurus; I’m number five. If you have a minute check out the article. Go to Redbookmag.com, look for Food & Home which is at the top of the page (right under the K in Redbook), you will see the article 9 Decorating Hacks from Top Design Gurus there. The direct link to Redbookmag’s site will be in the first comment after this post.

    Well, of course they would ask to use it Fred, it was genius!! You were thorough, but so easy to understand in your explanations and your art was perfect! Congratulations! Your blog is going to have a lot of new readers!

    • Hi there P.W. Yes I’m a Top Design Guru because Redbook made me that 🙂 who weeds his own garden, cuts his own lawn, paints his own house, and does a million other chores like calking the tub, which I’ve written about on this site. Having done all the projects, and having a first hand perspective on things, I think I am able to write on the topics so my readers can do it easier and probably quicker than I did the first time I did something. Thanks for your second comment it made me laugh ;-}

  2. P.W. says:

    Oh, and you are now a “Top design guru!! “‘:)

  3. Shondra says:

    Hello Fred,

    Congratulations. The notoriety is well deserved!

    I refered to that article last year for an update to my living room. I referred to it again at the beginning of this year when I updated my family room. I cannot tell you how helpful your suggestions have been for me. I’m sure the sales people at Lamps Plus thought my adamance about lamp height (or me) was crazy. The end result is the proof in the pudding.

    Your common sense explanations of decorating strategies are wonderful. I hope the notice you receive from this article will be the beginning of many new and wonderful opportunities for you.

  4. Your blog has been extremely beneficial to me. It’s very helpful to have guidelines, and you present them in such a clear way, always reminding us that our personal eye is the final judge. A wonderful balance of solid information paired with inspiration!

    • Hi there YDNNTRT, thanks for your comment, glad to have inspired you. Decorating is all about Your Home and Your Style, so the things I write about are meant to be that, not a You Must do this, or You Must Have that, to be OK.

  5. SLR says:

    Congratulations, dear friend, for this well deserved recognition! I am proud to say we have some “Gonsowski Lilies” and a Fred Gonsowski original painting at Windy Ledge! Continued success!

    • A shout out from Whimsey Hill House to you and the Mister at Windy Ledge SLR 🙂 As P.W. put it, I’m now a Top Design Guru, all I can say is Thanks Redbook for bestowing that honor on me. Glad to hear from you and love the e-mail address you have. It’s so perfect for you ;-}

  6. LVD says:

    Congratulations Fred! Your blog is fantastic! I’ve found it a couple of months ago! Love all your fab drawings! All the best! 🙂

  7. teresa says:

    Just now reading this and I’m not at all surprised. I just can’t believe it took them so long to “discover” you! 🙂 Congratulations.

  8. MrsJennyK says:

    Congratulations. I hope it brings lots more readers to your site. Your ideas have been very helpful to me.

  9. P.W. says:

    Helga, stop with the spam already!

  10. teresa says:

    sorry you have to do that, but it won’t keep me from reading the comments. Sometimes there’s a “real” one tucked in there.

    • Hi there Teresa, so far today I have 69 quarantined spam to delete (today so far is a light day), and about 8 spam got past WordPress and ended up in the comments. Once I delete them, I think WordPress knows not to let them in again. All of us bloggers that use WordPress, in our own way, are deleting spam for each other. When I first started the blog, I would read some of the spam, these days, I just delete it. I do though, have to kind of read the comments to see which ones are legitimate comments by readers, and which are spam.
